Avis Lill Regner
Avis Lill Regner, 86, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009.
She was married for 54 years to the late Frederick ˝Fritzţ Regner Sr., a descendant of the pioneering West Bend family. Born in Marion, Ohio, to Raymond and Hazel Lill, she graduated from Toledo University as a Registered Nurse. During WWII she served with the VA Hospital of Milwaukee and held critical care, pediatric and OB/GYN nursing positions with a number of U.S. hospitals during her husband═s military career and served as a Red Cross School Nurse and Director of the Cub Scouts of America in Ashiya, Japan, during the early 1950s. She was a member of the American Nursing Association, the Retired Officer═s Wives Club đ St. Petersburg and Tampa Chapters, Boca Ciega Sailing Association, American Contract Bridge League and was a water exercise instructor for Tampa Bay area senior communities.
Preceded in death by her husband Frederick Sr. (Major USAF Ret.), she is survived by her children, Frederick ˝Fritzţ Regner Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla., Matthew (Deidra) Regner, Mebane, N.C., Major Gen. Michael (Mary) Regner, USMC, currently stationed in Calif., and Patricia (Niles) Eikenberry, Greenville, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Brennan, Gregg Hiller Jr., Nick Hiller, John Hiller, Capt. Michael Jr. (Erin), USMC,Š Julia and Jay, and great grandson, Michael III.
A family tribute will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Anderson-McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 MLK St. N., St. Petersburg, Fla.Š
